A physical item product baseline groups the latest revision of all the item baselines using a user-specified product structure for an end-item or complete product. The product baseline can only be generated for physical items which are designated as a serialized item.

For a complete product structure (for example, a complex system), product baselines are created for each (that may have its own structure defined) within the complete product structure.

The physical item product baseline will include all the item baseline documents in the specified structure, up to the next physical item flagged as a serial item. You will need to create product baselines for all serial items in the structure.

A physical item product baseline can only be created manually by a user.

AssetWise creates a compound document that acts as a container for the physical item product baseline. It will include the latest approved physical item baseline documents related to the physical items within the chosen product structure type.

Before creating a product baseline, you must specify a document class whose Type is Product Baseline. See Managing Object Classes .
